SAN FRANCISCO, CA; BLANDON, PA, April 24 — BlueStar®, manufacturer of high-performance, highly customized kitchen appliances for the home, was selected as the leading kitchen partner for the 2019 San Francisco Decorator Showcase, a longtime fundraiser for San Francisco University High School’s Financial Aid Program. BlueStar® was a major design component in reimagining the home’s generously-sized kitchen to be worthy of the world’s top chefs and their culinary masterpieces.
The 2019 Showcase revisits the historic “Le Petit Trianon” Mansion located near the landmark Presidio. The home’s massive and richly appointed kitchen space was inspired by the French country manor of Marie-Antoinette. The kitchen design concept is a collaboration between Interior Designer Jamie Belew and Architect David Armour who adapted the home’s original service kitchen to create a contemporary Catering Kitchen and Service Lounge. Longtime principals of their respective interior design and architecture firms, they came together over their mutual admiration for this archetype of classical Beaux-Arts design and shared vision for retaining its traditional structure while updating its flow, functions and finishes to meet the needs of contemporary entertaining.
“Partnering with these very talented designers is an ideal venue to display BlueStar’s incomparable performance and customization capabilities. BlueStar appliances are central to designing distinctive, bespoke kitchens that speak to the serious home chef and avid entertainer,” said Eliza Sheffield, President, BlueStar®.
The new kitchen exhibits a classically crisp, modern design with hints of neo-classical features from Versailles’ Le Petit Trianon; a thoughtful joining of old and new. Art by George Legrady and a neon sculpture by Olivia Steele add a touch of whimsy within the envelope of traditional wood paneling. A limestone tile hood and surround provides balance and contrast with the vanilla lacquer cabinetry, exemplifying traditional design with a modern, artistic twist.
An opulent diamond patterned floor of white marble and delicately toned sage blue limestone sets off the sleekness of the beige red and oyster white BlueStar® appliances. The island countertop of cream-colored luminescent quartzite with whispers of sage and rose is durable, non-etching and stain-resistant; the BlueStar® appliances – spot-on materials for a hard-working kitchen – complement the countertop and cabinetry. The BlueStar® products bring a level of customization and performance not typical in a home kitchen. All BlueStar® appliances are available in 750+ colors and finishes and have been handcrafted in Pennsylvania since 1880. Consumers can design their own personalized BlueStar® online at “Build Your Own BlueStar®”.
“The appeal, the promise, of pro-style BlueStar ranges is clear: Yes, it’s all about successful cooking and entertaining, but the equipment should be an important element of the design. BlueStar has an immaculate reputation as a top manufacturer of high-performance residential ranges with truly customizable features and in virtually any color option. For those who want to make a bold statement and achieve a custom design that showcases their distinctive style, BlueStar is a great option,” said Designer Jaimie Belew.
The beige red 60” Nova Series range is the focal point of the kitchen, featuring six burners with industry leading 22,000 BTU open burners, plus a classic French Top cooking surface. Swing doors and small brass trim accents were a perfect design choice for the over-sized ovens that fit commercial size sheet pans.
In addition to the range, the kitchen includes the BlueStar® Double Electric Wall Oven in oyster white, with chef-inspired French doors, which features a powerful 2,500 watt bake element and intense 5,000 watt infrared broiler. The 1800 watt heat assist element in the back of the cavity means faster preheating and less time waiting. A professional-quality, integrated artisan baking stone can be used to create perfectly crisp breads and pizza which can be cooked right on top of the baking stone for restaurant style results. Twelve different cooking modes including Bake, Convection Bake, Roast, Convection Roast, Broil, StoneBake™, Proof and Sabbath, provide numerous cooking options for unmatched versatility.
To provide a seamless cooking to cooling experience, the designers chose two 36” Built-In French Door refrigerators, also in oyster weight. With durable stainless steel interiors, dual compressors for enhanced food preservation and roomy interiors, the award-winning BlueStar® 36-inch Built-In Refrigerator line also is designed for serious cooking and entertaining. The refrigerator’s fully extending bottom shelf is designed to fit a full-size commercial sheet pan — as is the freezer shelf – that way, extra-large pans prepped with pastries or hors d’oeuvres can go straight from the refrigerator or freezer into an oversized BlueStar® oven, another brand hallmark. The kitchen has two refrigerators, both painted in oyster white, which can fit everything needed for any size party.
With the high-BTU commercial-style BlueStar®, proper ventilation is essential to help keep the kitchen’s air clean. A BlueStar® hood liner sits inside the tiled stone hood, and features handcrafted seamed construction, commercial style stainless steel baffle filters and double wall construction to deliver pro-style results. In addition to whisking away unwanted odors, vent hoods remove moisture and grease, as well as carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and other pollutants that cooking can release into the air.
Designed and built in Pennsylvania since 1880, BlueStar® cooking, refrigeration and ventilation products are handcrafted for discerning home chefs who demand restaurant-quality results in their own kitchens. The award-winning line includes high-performance gas ranges, cooktops, electric and gas wall ovens, complementary kitchen ventilation hoods and premium refrigeration. BlueStar® is the only pro-style appliance brand to offer virtually unlimited options for personalization, including more than 750 colors and trims as well as highly customizable cooking surfaces, swing and French oven doors, and restaurant accessories like salamander broilers, charbroilers, Frenchtops and oversized ovens that fit commercial sheet pans.
