Tell us about this project
“This kitchen design, which incorporates both modern and classic elements, was built around the function and look of the 48” BlueStar® range and 36” built-in refrigerator. We focused on mixing old materials with new materials and making the space feel inviting. We did this using a mixture of warm and cool colors and textures – warm dark browns and navy blue hues. The white cabinetry gave it an open and airy feeling. The appliances were customized with brushed brass hardware and bezels. The inset custom PLATO cabinetry is a mixture of walnut, navy and classic white and the quartzite countertops marry the two styles with its natural beauty. The stunning chevron walnut ceiling design was created using 20 year old wood that was found in the client’s family barn.”
Why BlueStar® appliances?
“They are workhouses! The homeowner cooks and entertains frequently. He wanted commercial-grade appliances and his wife wanted the ability to customize the appliances. BlueStar® was the perfect choice!”
All BlueStar® products are designed to withstand the rigors of the busiest home kitchens. BlueStar® gas ranges provide the home chef with a cooking experience that only can be matched by a restaurant kitchen environment. Its powerful burners provide up to 25,000 BTUs of cooking power for consistent, controlled heat and the ovens are large enough to hold a full size commercial sheet pan.
With durable stainless steel interiors, dual compressors for enhanced food preservation and exceptionally roomy interiors, the BlueStar® Built-In Refrigeration line is made for serious cooking and entertaining. The refrigerator’s fully extending bottom shelf is designed to fit a full-size commercial sheet pan — as is the freezer shelf – that way, extra-large pans prepped with pastries or hors d’oeuvres can go straight from the refrigerator or freezer into an oversized BlueStar® oven, another brand hallmark.
Were there any unique challenges?
“The walnut ceiling was a challenge. We used 20+ year old walnut that was stored in a barn.”
What’s the best way to get to know your client’s tastes and priorities?
“We always start by meeting in our client’s existing space, that allows us to see how they function in their current space. We then use that information as a guide to help create their dream kitchen.”
Our best advice to clients?
“Take your time and really think about the space. Consider how you will use it and how you will utilize the storage.”
