"I love BlueStar because as a designer, I want to select quality products for my clients, without compromising the breadth of creativity...especially when it comes to the kitchen."
Name: Kim Lewis
Location: Kim Lewis Designs - Los Angeles, CA
Kim appreciates character driven design. She loves paint, and believes color is key. For two years, she worked for a global furniture importer called Four Hands in Austin, Texas where she found her love for furniture and textile design. She believes spaces should tell a story. As a southern girl, her roots run deep in Texas. While sitting in her wedding dress in Austin, Kim received the call to join the design team for ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and became the show's Production Designer, overseeing the design team.
As the former Production Designer for ABC's "EMHE", Kim Lewis recently founded her own design firm, Kim Lewis Designs. In six years with the prime time network show, Kim designed the architecture, exteriors, interiors and landscape for over 100 custom homes in 43 states. With a seven day build schedule, Lewis learned how to motivate trades and builders in a positive, but persistent way. Despite her small stature, she can command a room, even a construction site. Post EMHE, Kim has been working on a non-profit team designing an Art Center in Ghana, West Africa for children who were rescued from slavery. Born to travel, this designer, is inspired by other cultures, and thrives on the idea of using design to really help people in need.
I love BlueStar because as a designer, I want to select quality products for my clients, without compromising the breadth of creativity...especially when it comes to the kitchen. Powerful performance, combined with an extensive color range, this US based company leaves the ability to be creative with your appliances on the table.
What is your favorite color?
Since I love color so much, it's hard to say I have a favorite. That's like asking you to pick your favorite child. There is a psychology behind color. Some days turquoise makes me most happy, while lately when I see canary yellow my heart skips a beat.
Who do you follow on Twitter?
Hand/Eye Magazine, Design Milk, Art Feeds, Architecture for Humanity, Dylan Design to name a few.
What is the 1st question you ask a client?
"If you could stand anywhere in the world, where would it be?" (I believe whatever inspires us most should be in our home...whether it's the culture of another country, or memories from your Grandmother's house...)
